With over 12 years of expertise in the flooring industry, Stand Up Flooring has become a trusted name for engineered hardwood installation. Our experience has honed our skills, ensuring that every installation project we undertake is executed with precision and attention to detail. We love installing real wood floors and the engineered floor is one of them, as it has a wood layer on top that can even be refinished up to 2 times. This makes engineered wood a great and durable choice that will last you for years.

Why Engineered Hardwood?

  • Durability and Stability: Engineered hardwood is designed to resist humidity and temperature changes better than traditional hardwood, making it an excellent choice for a variety of indoor environments.
  • Elegance of Hardwood: It offers the timeless elegance of hardwood, with a variety of finishes and styles to match any decor.
  • Sustainable Choice: Many engineered wood products are more sustainable than traditional hardwood, aligning with modern eco-friendly standards.
  • Less Mess: Engineered wood is usually prefinished and does not need to be sanded and stained. That shortens the process and reduces the total price by the cost of sanding, which you can apply to buy a better quality engineered wood. That is why it is also less messy.

Recently hired Stand Up Flooring for a major update in my Hannover Park home, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. Wojciech Puzniak and his team installed new floors on two levels, built a fresh set of stairs, and did some excellent sanding with a natural, water-based finish.
The project finished right on schedule, and they kept my house tidy throughout the process.

Excellent job! We had a little struggle with choosing the right stain color to match our cabinets and Wojtek has recommended us a good one. He even put the water base finish on the stain samples on the small part of our actual floor to help us envision it better. Great work!

Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

Engineered hardwood flooring consists of a real hardwood layer on top of a stable core, offering the look of solid hardwood with added stability against humidity and temperature changes.

Engineered hardwood can last almost as long as solid hardwood, typically around 20-30 years, and can be refinished up to 2 times depending on the thickness of the top veneer. That also depends on wear and tear, and how much you take care of your floors.

Yes, all furniture and other items need to be removed from the area before we start the restoration process. It would have to be done earlier before we start refinishing, as we need to plan our time accordingly. If you can't move it yourself for any reason, you'll have to hire someone to do it for you, however, in some cases, we are able to help with a few items, but not gonna move everything for you, unless you want us to delegate that work and find someone to do it. There is always room to talk about solutions.

Yes, engineered hardwood can be installed over concrete, making it a versatile choice for various home settings. Usually, it requires to use of a moisture mitigation system like moisture barrier glue. It will cost slightly more for installation.

Calculate the total square footage by multiplying the length and width of the room, then add 5-10% for wastage. Divide this total by the square footage per box of vinyl flooring to determine how many boxes to purchase.

While more stable than solid hardwood, it's still best to avoid installing engineered hardwood in areas with high moisture, like bathrooms, as often it is water resistant not waterproof. Unless you choose LifeProof engineered floor, the producer claims to be waterproof that costs at least $4 per square foot.

Yes, the engineered plank can be installed over the tile, provided the tile surface is even and well-adhered to the subfloor. It is recommended to glue down the floor while installing it on the tiles, as the result is very stable.

Costs vary based on the type of engineered wood, installation method, and project complexity. It's generally more cost-effective than solid hardwood but more expensive than laminate or vinyl as it often needs to be glued down for better durability.

If engineered flooring gets scratched or damaged, it can be a bit tricky to fix. Sometimes, you can replace individual damaged planks. For engineered wood, repairs might need professional help since it's more complex, especially if the damage is extensive. In Stand Up Flooring, we can remove even a single plank and reinstall a new one on top, by gluing it back, as long as you have spare material or the engineered floor is not discontinued.

1200 square feet Vinyl Floor Installation study case:

If you need to install 1200sqft of the engineered floor and for example, in half of your home you have old flooring or carpet that you'd like to remove, the labor for floor installation and removing the old floor will cost you around $6000. To that price, you need to add $450 for installing quarter rounds in your home. That price doesn't include the stairs installation.
